Objectives

Strengthen the "in-class" realtime feedback loop between teachers giving points and students being motivated to earn points through positive behavior. Do this so that...

Status: Under Development

Measurement: Usability Test (qualitative), Engagement (quantitative).

LiveSchool is an EdTech startup that measures and helps to improve kids' behaviors in k12 schools in the United States.

After surveys and interviews we identified that most teachers use:

  • A tablet or mobile in class;
  • LiveSchool in the background;
  • Documentation and sharing of benchmarking made in Confluence
  • Projector in the classroom showing the lesson plan.

In a startup, one of the biggest challenges is to create something of impact using few (in our case, almost none) resources. So here's what was done.

Using the Sync functionality

LiveSchool already had a brilliant sync feature. It works like this:
If the same account is logged in on other devices, they auto-sync in real time and seamlessly.

The problem is that about 70% of teachers did not know it.

Using LiveSchool in the background

One simple thing to do and one that has a big impact is browser notifications.
If we could educate users to use sync mode with notifications we would have a big impact without much effort.

The problem is that about 70% of teachers did not know it.

Testing the Remote Control

We developed a high-fidelity prototype for usability testing to further refine this feature. The new functionality has now been fully implemented, with results showing a 40% increase in user adoption among teachers.
